50 Years of PrecisionI recently asked Dad if he had ever imagined what he started 50 years ago would still be around today. Here was his candid reply, "I would have hoped it would still be around, but not something I would have bet on." Dad may not have bet on his company being around 50 years later, but witnessing the work ethic both Mom and Dad had, I would have been shocked if it wasn't still around.
As we celebrate our 50th year in business, I have been reflecting on my memories growing up in the family business and the past 30 years I have worked in it. I am not old enough to remember Dad starting from the basement of a rented home. I am, however, old enough to remember the countless hours he spent at night working with nothing more than a benchtop lathe, mill, and some hand tools. At that time it was still a hobby. He would help improve his friend's firearms and, hopefully, make a little money along the way. I learned so many lessons from Mom and Dad. Everything from how to treat a customer to never compromising the quality of a product for any reason. It's impossible to cover all the lessons learned over the years, but one that I probably heard more than any other was Never rest on your laurels. Dad referenced that phrase countless times and would always follow it up with, If you ever do, we might as well close the doors because it's over. I am grateful for all the sacrifices Mom & Dad made along the way. Additionally, no mention of our 50th year would be complete without thanking the entire Volquartsen Firearms team. Without them, a milestone such as this wouldn't be possible. Most importantly, thank you. Without you, everything I just wrote would be nonexistent. It never gets old seeing a familiar name pop up who has trusted our products since the 80s and 90s, or who is the second or third generation in their family to own one of our firearms. Help us commemorate 50 years in the firearms industry with our 50 Years of Precision apparel. Get yours today! With the utmost appreciation, |
