Field Ethos x Grey Birch x VolquartsenWe've been fortunate to know the Field Ethos guys for a few years. Co-founder Jason Vincent was featured on our fourth No Excuse to Miss podcast episode, The Unapologetic Approach. Field Ethos is a lifestyle publication with an unapologetic approach to global experiences and big adventures. They're also known for being gearheads, liking the best of everything and if they can’t wear it out or break it, nobody can. They're constantly looking for the next piece of kit to enhance everyday life or make the next adventure a better experience. When the opportunity arose to collaborate with them and our friends at Grey Birch on a firearm, we enthusiastically said yes! Our Summit platform will perform from a bench but is versatile enough for the toughest field use. It's also adaptable and lends itself to a variety of custom applications. The following is a message from the guys at Field Ethos. It’s no secret that the men of Field Ethos own so many guns that they could distribute them amongst friends and seemingly nice strangers to invade Canada and Mexico turning this whole North America thing into one big taco-eating, hockey-playing, 2nd Amendment-celebrating keg party. That’s a lot of guns. And their favorite? The .22 Long Rifle. These guys shoot more rounds of .22 per year than all other cartridges combined. On range days they end sessions by seeing who can make .22 hits on steel at 200 or 300 yards. When they’re training the next generation of unruly Americans (their young children) they focus efforts on the .22LR. Because this cartridge is so heavily used by them, they prefer to have the best guns that fire the round. And now they have it. Field Ethos, Volquartsen Firearms, and Grey Birch Manufacturing joined forces to bring you FE’s version of the perfect .22LR rifle - The Ditch Tiger.
For the starting point, the Volquartsen Summit and trigger were chosen. The straight pull bolt is fast and quieter than a semi-auto. The trigger is perfect for accuracy at distance. For the barrel and stock, we chose Grey Birch MFG’s carbon fiber Fusion barrel system and La Chassis stock. The Fusion barrel system is lightweight and is threaded to the action for sub-MOA accuracy. The La Chassis weighs in at just 1.15 lbs and folds at the rear for storage in tight places. The Field Ethos version is Cerakoted in Rhodesian Brushstroke pattern with the Field Ethos logo machined into the receiver and includes a Die Free Co. Kung Fu grip in OD green. It’s light, it’s accurate, it’s perfect. It’s probably the best .22 ever made. |
